  • New online resource Dementia Help will be hosting a Carers Corner networking area at The Alzheimer’s Show in London on 9-10 June. Carers Corner will welcome carers who want to meet and talk with other carers in similar situations and share their ideas, experiences and insights on looking after a loved one with dementia.

    Singing can act as a powerful form of therapy for those with dementia, helping with memory and recall, but also encouraging social interaction, movement and wellbeing

     

    Music and singing have long been used as a means of therapy for people with dementia – and with good reason. Not only an enjoyable activity, singing provides an interactive experience for both those with dementia and their carers, offering an outlet for self-expression in a safe, supportive and sociable environment.

     

  • Now in its third year, National Dementia Carers Day recognises the efforts of the thousands of ‘hidden’ carers across the UK who are caring for someone close to them who has dementia. The focus of this year’s campaign is ‘Sharing’. Carers are invited to connect and share their experiences, tips and stories; while members of the public are encouraged to get involved by sharing their appreciation for a dementia carer they know.
  • We chat with John Ramsay, the pioneer behind socially responsible products company Shift 8, about his passion for improving the lives of people with dementia.
  • As every year, the top names in dementia research and treatment will be in London on 8 – 9 June attending the 2018 Alzheimer’s Show– the UK’s leading dementia and Alzheimer’s event for professionals, carers, people living with dementia, their relatives and friends.
