The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Show 2024 Successfully Concludes with Exciting Times Ahead for 2025

The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Show, the UK's leading event dedicated to the fight against dementia and Alzheimer's, concluded successfully over the weekend at the ExCeL London. The event saw an impressive turnout of 1,149 attendees, including care providers, health and social care professionals, and family carers.

Attendees had the opportunity to network, learn from leading experts in the field, and explore a wide range of care solutions from exhibitors. The seminars were a particular highlight, featuring insightful discussions and new strategies for dementia care.

One attendee remarked, “We had a wonderful time! We got the opportunity to network and the seminars were really helpful. Overall it was a well organised event.” Others described the event as "unmissable" and "insightful."

Among the seminar highlights, Amanda Partington-Todd, Deputy Director of Adult Social Care at the Care Quality Commission, introduced a new dementia strategy with a focus on what good dementia care looks like. Sebastian Crutch, Professor of Neuropsychology at UCL Dementia Research Centre, discussed the varying needs of individuals with different diagnoses, while Kerry Lyons, Consultant Admiral Nurse for Frailty at Dementia UK, provided valuable insights on supporting families affected by frailty.

This year, the event also hosted Training2Care, which provided invaluable training sessions. The Virtual Dementia Tour offered attendees a unique, immersive experience to better understand the daily challenges faced by those living with dementia. Additionally, the Dementia Interpreters Course equipped participants with essential skills to communicate effectively and compassionately with individuals affected by dementia.

The event also announced the introduction of the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Summit for 2024, chaired by Professor Fiona Ducotterd. This summit focused on the latest advancements in drug discovery aimed at combating dementia and Alzheimer's, further emphasizing the commitment to finding effective treatments and improving patient care.

Attendees are encouraged to mark their calendars for next year’s show on 19th & 20th March 2025 at the new location, NEC Birmingham. The 2025 event will be collocated with the well-established healthcare portfolio of ROAR B2B, including Naidex, Neuro Convention, and UK Care Week. This strategic move will offer significant benefits by providing increased exposure, more networking opportunities, and a diverse audience from various healthcare sectors, enhancing the overall impact and reach of the event.

Josh Waddell, Commercial Director of The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Show, stated, "This year's event has been an incredible success, demonstrating the strong commitment and passion within our community to improve dementia care and support. Moving to NEC Birmingham next year and collocating with other leading healthcare events will create even more opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth, benefiting both our exhibitors and attendees."

Heartfelt thanks are extended to all attendees, speakers, partners, and exhibitors for making this year’s show a resounding success. Participation and contributions are vital in the ongoing fight against dementia and Alzheimer's.
