DAVID BEHAN, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF CARE QUALITY COMMISSION TO SPEAK AT THE ALZHEIMER'S SHOW

PRESS RELEASE

David Behan of the Care Quality Commission to Discuss Care Quality at The Alzheimer’s Show on Friday 19 April

The Alzheimer’s Show, addressing the issues that really matter to those living with or caring for people with dementia

10 April 2013 – London: David Behan, the chief executive of the Care Quality Commission, the independent regulator of all health and social care services in England, will be presenting on the subject of care and quality at The Alzheimer’s Show on Friday 19th April.

Taking to the stage in the Alzheimer’s Matters Theatre at 10.30am, Mr Behan will discuss the national standards that cover all aspects of care including treating people with dignity and respect; making sure food and drink meets people’s needs; making sure that the environment is clean and safe and the management and staffing of services.

Mr Behan will also speak more specifically about the care needs of people living with dementia; the steps that are being taken to ensure that all dementia care in the UK is of a high standard and the training and regulation that will be in place to ensure that the best care can be delivered and received.

“Care quality has been a major press topic and we thought it was important that we could provide visitors to The Alzheimer’s Show with the people who can not only answer our care concerns, but also present to them the solutions and options for good care that are already available,” explained Nigel Ward, founder of The Alzheimer’s Show.

“There is no one in the country who can match David Behan’s knowledge and commitment to driving forward high national standards of quality, safety and care for all vulnerable people, not just those with dementia, being cared for in hospitals, care homes or in their own homes,” continued Nigel Ward of the Alzheimer’s Show.

A number of independent care providers will also be discussing care and the best fit care solutions for each individual living with dementia. These care providers include Care UK, Jacquie Pool Associates and Sweettree Home Care Services. For more details visit: http://alzheimersshow.co.uk/workshop/

David Behan will be joined at the show by Professor Alistair Burns, the UK Government’s Dementia Tsar, as well as the UK’s leading Alzheimer’s and dementia experts and charities.
