Dates, Bigger Venue & New Features Announced
May 16 & 17 at Olympia, London
21 August 2013: The Alzheimer’s Show will return for its second year at the larger Olympia London exhibition halls in West London on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 May 2014.
The bigger venue responds directly to visitor feedback wanting even more dementia advice and solutions, as well as early demand from businesses, charities and experts wanting to play a role in The Alzheimer’s Show, the only UK event dedicated purely to providing practical advice and solutions to carers of people living with dementia.
Exhibitors this May included everyone from care home and home care service providers, dementia friendly holiday companies, therapists providing arts and cognitive classes, businesses developing products designed to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and organisations offering practical solutions to once simple everyday tasks.
Nearly 1,800 carers and professionals visited the 2013 show. 65% were members of the public and 35% were care professionals. Of these visitors 90% said they would attend The Alzheimer’s Show again in 2014.
Their job roles of the professional visitors covered all areas and functions involved in professional health and care provision including directors of adult social services, finance directors, clinicians, COOs, PCT commissioning directors, nurses, dieticians, neurologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, GPs, social workers and care home managers and assistants.
With an increased marketing budget for the 2014 show and an interest from the trade and national press, we expect to see the number of first time visitors from around the country increase significantly.
Daily Telegraph columnist, Max Pemberton reported: “An ‘Alzheimer’s Show’ does make sense.” Tom Peck of The Independent reported: “That the industry surrounding such a sad reality should be large enough to inspire a trade fair undoubtedly offers a window on the country’s ageing future.”
“The inaugural Alzheimer’s Show was an important event, attracting thousands of people living with dementia, their loved ones and carers, plus a huge professional audience. The great success of the first year reveals that The Alzheimer’s Show is necessary and timely,” said Rebecca Wood, Chief Executive of Alzheimer’s Research UK, who spoke at The Alzheimer’s Show 2013.
“Alzheimer’s Research UK looks forward to an even bigger, better event in 2014, delivering more news, advice and support to empower people living with dementia across the UK,” continued Rebecca Wood.

“We were very moved by the speaker’s personal experiences. The advice, information, etc, was all excellent. It has been reassuring to find so much interest and expertise,” said one visitor.
“The show had a very positive atmosphere. It was really refreshing to have focus on positivity and support. The talks by individuals and dementia champions were inspiring. It was a great idea to get the public and professionals together in a single venue,” reported another.
“The quality of speakers was excellent. The mix was very good,” said a visitor to the show with her husband.
“Dad was recently diagnosed. We were there to find out about what might lie ahead and what services and products there might be to make this path a little easier. The scope, amount and variety of information in one place was so helpful,” was the feedback from the daughter of a recently diagnosed dementia patient.
“The Alzheimer’s Show was a first rate event, with an excellent mixture of attendees. These included people with dementia, their family, carers and the professionals who support them. There was something truly for everyone,” said Professor Martin Green, OBE, the Chief Executive of ECCA and speaker at the first The Alzheimer’s Show, said:
